Cochlear Implants

Making The Most of New Technology

Since 2016 The Hearing Clinic has been working with otologists and otolaryngologists in fitting adults with bone-anchored hearing aids and cochlear implant processors from Cochlear Americas. Bone-anchored hearing aids are used for patients with single-sided deafness and for those with significant conductive or mixed hearing loss where a traditional acoustic hearing aid cannot be used. Cochlear implants are for those with severe to profound sensorineural hearing loss where traditional hearing aid technology is no longer beneficial.

Fitting of both types of medical devices are based on FDA guidelines for listening performance in optimal hearing aided conditions. Once candidacy is confirmed the surgery is performed by the physician. The device is then activated and programmed at this office.
